Apparently, the owner of Oculus decided to discontinue FlexSim´s suggested headset for VR, Oculus Rift S:

Oculus Rift S discontinued

In relation to this answers thread:

Does Flexsim support Oculus Quest 2?

Especially with the need to install Quest 2 through a Facebook account, it becomes basically unavailable in a professional environment. What is the development group´s current suggestion to enjoy FlexSim VR in sufficient quality without the need of signing up for online accounts?

Thanks for your advice

Phil's general advice in his answer Does Flexsim support Oculus Quest 2? - FlexSim Community still stands.

Basically, FlexSim does not at this time have a particular recommended VR headset - it is more based on the preference of the user, their budget, and their desired VR feature set. For example:

  • Oculus Quest 2 has inside-out tracking, is fairly inexpensive, but at this time requires a Facebook Account.
  • You can get a business-oriented Quest 2 that does not require a FB account, but it is double the price of the consumer model.
  • HTC Vive Pro 2 has 5K resolution, is quite expensive compared to Quest 2, and requires external sensors.
  • Etc.

Each headset will have its own pros and cons, and depending on your needs and use-case, each client can make the best decision for themselves.

Thanks to FlexSim's general compatibility with both Oculus and SteamVR, you can choose from several different compatible headset models.

FlexSim has not tested every headset on the market. If you pick up a newer headset and find that it has issues with FlexSim, please post a new question to let us know the issue.
