[ FlexSim 18.0.2 ]

Hi,

does anyone else have problems with FlexSim GP 18.0.2 and NVIDIA graphic cards?

FlexSim has some difficulties recognizing the NVIDIA graphic card. On one of our notebooks FlexSim does not always recognize the graphic card (GTX 1060). Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. After restarting FlexSim a couple of times, everything is back to normal

On another notebook (GTX 860) FlexSim crashes while building a model or while running a model. After restarting FlexSim, the graphic card is no longer recognized by FlexSim. We tried to replicate what has been done before the crash, but it seems to happen randomly.

Anyone else experiencing issues like that?

That's interesting, I have a GTX 1060 on my machine, and I haven't had any issues. ARe all the drivers up to date?

Hi @Anna Lisa Dierking & @sebastian.hemmann,

When you start FlexSim, does the driver show version 390.77?

This is the latest version of the GeForce GTX driver, released January 29, 2018. Please make sure you are on that latest version of the graphics driver.

Secondly, perhaps your notebook is switching between integrated graphics and discrete graphics, in order to save battery. FlexSim should be automatically recognized as a program that should use discrete graphics acceleration, but in case it is not, you may need to set it manually within the Nvidia Control Panel. Under 3D Settings, Manage 3D settings, go the Program Settings tab:

Click 'Add' and browse to the flexsim.exe executable (default install path is C:\Program Files\FlexSim 2018\program\flexsim.exe). You then have the ability to tweak any and all settings for your FlexSim graphics. The defaults are usually fine, but feel free to play around to tweak things to your liking.

There are other suggestions in our article Graphics Compatibility - Common Problems and Solutions.

Lastly, it is possible that there is some problem in the underlying hardware or Windows OS that is causing the issue. Do you see any problems if you use any other 3D accelerated applications or games?

Thank you. That seems to be the solution. We have not had any problems since upgrading to NVIDIA 390.77 manually. Unfortunately when we looked for a drivers update, that did not come up so I had to look for the new version online. So far, so good 🙂
