Importing 3D models in full color

[ FlexSim 22.1.1 ]

When I import a 3D file from Solidworks (using stl or step) it makes the resulting shape a solid color.
What I'd like is to maintain all the colors I set in Solidworks. STL wont do this but STEP (AP203 or AP214) should retain that information.

Is there a way to do this?

Jonathan do you have any other formats you can try exporting if those are not working? IGES, Collada, FBX? The STEP import route has been one of the least proven in my experience. Can you try importing to an intermediate tool like Blender/AC3D/3DSMax and then export to a different format? If you don't have access to any of those we may be able to try and find a good path if you are able to upload a sample part. (Make the post private if you need to)

It took a bit but I figured it out.

1. Ensure the Solidworks model units are set to millimeters and save.

2. Save the model as VRML, set the options to 1.0 or higher and the units to millimeters.

3. Import the model into Flexsim.

Assemblies do not import like this. Only a single, solid model.
