Does Flexsim support Oculus Quest 2?

[ FlexSim 20.2.2 ]

I have learned from this community that the best hardware for using VR mode of Flexsim is Oculus Rift S. Oculus recently launched a new headset - Oculus Quest 2. Is Rift S still the best/safest option to choose?

I haven't tested the Quest 2 directly, but I have tested the Quest 1. When plugged into a PC via an Oculus Link cable, you can use FlexSim with an Oculus Quest headset.

The Oculus Quest 2 should also work correctly with FlexSim when connected to your PC via cable. If it does not, let us know and we will get one and make sure it works.

I would suggest getting a Quest 2. Just ensure you get a compatible cable to be able to use it with FlexSim on your PC.

Starting with the Quest 2, Oculus requires you to use a Facebook account. If that's a deal-breaker for using Oculus headsets, then you may want to consider SteamVR headsets.

SteamVR introduced Motion Smoothing which should make the experience better at lower framerates, similar to Oculus asynchronous spacewarp. I haven't tested motion smoothing, but I'm hopeful that it works well. Personally, I prefer the inside-out tracking of Oculus headsets over the external base stations used by Valve/Vive headsets.

If Facebook concerns dissuade you from using Oculus headsets, then SteamVR headsets such as the Valve Index or HP Reverb G2 could be used instead. FlexSim is compatible with SteamVR so those headsets should also work well with FlexSim.
