Prores on flame

No ProRes444 on Flame as working codec?

Or is it a limitation training edition?

Hi Alex,

Are you referring to the compressed intermediate format?

Hi Yann,

yes, indeed.

Prores444 is IMHO perfectly balanced. Lightweight, fast, RGB, adequate bitdepth - which makes it especially for UHD und higher resolutions the perfect intermediate. And since the gamma-issues are left behind it has become totally reliable.

There is no need to waste bandwidth using uncompressed files. Or in other words: it takes more time to move the data around than decoding/encoding it. Unless you have storage available that is "incredibly" fast.

Why is it in Smoke available?

Cheers

Alex

Hi Alex,

After investigation, we confirm that Apple ProRes 444 should be available as intermediate format in the Training edition.

Hence, the issue is a bug, not a limitation.

Please let me know if you have any questions,

Regards,
Yann

Hi Yann,

if I understand you correctly, ProRes444 is already present as intermediate in Flame?

Cheers

Alex
