Type Preset animations

Is there a way to preview the different type animations available as presets?

all I can see is a list of vague names and very random looking still images, which in no way suggest what the animation might look like!

No, it is not possible to preview the animation. Please submit a general improvement request for it over at flamefeedback.autodesk.com
