Only for Mac or Linux ?

Hey there,

I'm a brand new user of Flame, which I'm gonna study during my trainning in cinema superior school here in Canada,QC ( Cegep de Jonquière).

I have installed Flame on my Mac Book Pro, but I'm not sure that it will be powerful enough. I also have a PC which fit way more for special effects and editing videos.

so here are my questions :

1 : will my Mac Book Pro be powerful enough to enjoy Flame ( beginner level) ?

2 : Is there a way to install Flame on PC ( I didn't have the option when I installed the software) ?

Thank you very much for your help,

BEst regards,

Sebastien

Bonjour Sébastien,

A MacBook Pro should be powerful enough to run Flame, but it depends on how old it is and on its components. You can have a look at what is recommended here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/flame-products/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/f...

The only way to install Flame on your PC would be to install a recommend Linux OS on it. Flame is not supported on Windows.

Salut Fred,

thanks a lot for the fast answer ! ( I will write in english for all the community). So, I will run Flame with my Mac Book Pro, and see how it is going.

If I have troubles, I will install Linux on my PC. I had no idea that Flame isn't running with Windows.

It is amazing that you are a ATM finissant ! By the way, I'm 48 years old, I came back to school to live a teenager's dream 🙂

It would be nice to talking about it together !

Merci encore,

Sébastien

Salut Sebastien!

A MacBookPro should be good enough to learn Flame. Since you are not into production, the need to have a very recent configuration is less important.  But make sure to have minimum requirement as documented on the link Fed provided earlier.

I would refrain to jump into building a Linux laptop since it could be a good configuration adventure if you never went through this.  And based on your hardware, memory, graphic card, etc you might find challenges that would not help you master Flame.

Let us know how things go!
