Hi Henrik,
The 1st generation appellation refers to the few hardware components that were included in the first HPZ800 systems we sold to customers.
These components are:
- NVidia FX5800
- AJA OEM2K
- Infiniband DDR
- Myricom 10GigE
Those components are no longer supported with Flame Family 2018.
The HPZ800 (2nd generation) is still a supported platform for 2018.
This platform includes the following components:
- NVidia Q6000
- AJA Kona 3G
- Infiniband QDR
Please let us know if it answers your questions.

Hi Yann,
So this is only down to which extra hardware that has been added to the workstation and nothing to do with thew logicboard, CPU etc.?
Do you have a list of recommended hardware setup for HP Z800? Like which total amounts of memory is prefered (ex. 64GB over 48GB or 128GB over 96GB) etc.?
Many thanks.
Cheers,
Henrik
Hi Henrik,
This is correct.
Regarding your second question, we do not provide any specific hardware recommendations to get optimal performances on the legacy supported workstation models.
We only provide the minimum system requirements in the case of legacy supported platforms.
