Copy & Convert

Is there anyway when using the "Copy & Convert " method of bringing an older project into a current Flame, of renaming it ?

I have quite a few projects that have been through 4-5 versions of Flame and now have Project file names with ludicrously cumbersome lists of years and versions...like this "Original_Project_2018_3_2019_2019_1_pr91_2019_1"

I hope there is a way to allow users to customise this!

Hi adamt,

You can't rename a project directly, there are too many dependencies for the process to be reliable.

But you could archive and restore it.

So, archive "Original_Project_2018_3_2019_2019_1_pr91_2019_1". Then restore it.

Because project name "Original_Project_2018_3_2019_2019_1_pr91_2019_1" is already used, you'll be asked to rename to the project you've just restored.  Voilà, renamed project.

HTH,

Martin

thanks Martin, I had a feeling that would be the answer.

Archiving and unarchiving can be a real pain when you are having to do it for every project, each time the application gets updated. I'll stick with the crazy long filenames for now.

My workflow for this is to create a new project with the name that i want then wire what i want across using mediahub using the projects browser

hey Joel - just what I do most times!

I was  hoping there was a quicker/easier way to modify a name for those times when its not so practical to go through that whole process...like when the boss is sat next to you and wants to look back at something from 6 months ago and doesn't want to wait around!

Exactly!

no reason it can't be done - as long as the new name is different to the original then there are no conflicts.
