CentOS 7.4 on HP Z8 install issue

Hi,

I just got my HP Z8  certified hardware with CG 319, and tried to install Flame 2019 on it, but met CentOS 7.4 install issue and don't know how to make it work.

1. I download CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1708-ADSK_Rev001.iso form website, but there was no selection  "Install CenOS7 -Autodesk Flame Workstation" like v7.2, only had "Install CentOS7", should I pick this one? 

2. Ｗhen I tried to manually partition my hard drive, I could not only create 3 partitions as install guide said( boot, swap, \) , I need to create another boot/efi to install CentOS, otherwise, CentOS does not allow to install. IS it correct?

3. Do I need to modify other settings? Default software setting is minimal install, I changed to GNOME is it OK?

4. After that, I went into GUI and install DKU 13.1.0, then restart my computer but meet always can not rich login menu issue.

Does anyone have experience in installing CentOS 7.4 and can share how to get successful with me?

Hi jamestien,

Are you installing the CentOS 7.4 from a USB drive? If yes, please burn the ISO to dvd instead and install it from there. Z8 is having issue booting from USB on legacy mode. 

Please also make sure that you have the correct BIOS version (1.51, more info from the Z8 System Requirement page) and you have set correctly the BIOS configuration > BIOS & firmware setup.

Hi Jeff, 

Thanks for your help, as you mention about update BIOS, everything is good now.

One more question need your help, default there is no ifcfg-eth0 or eth1 in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, I saw a template file in the same folder, I tried to modified it, but didn't work, I could not network reload or ifup eth0, any suggestion? please

Hi James,

In CentOS 7.4, it is now ifcfg-enoX (eno1, eno2, etc..).
