The way I work is I have my main crib, this is all 80+ tools that are my standard set. I start a new document in FC, either with a model or not. I get enough geometry to add a single feature, usually a face. Then I save the doc, close it, and reopen it. Now I'm in the crib for this document. ( I save tools with the doc, this way my main crib doesn't grow out of control.)
Then as I program I just grab tools from my main crib. BUT, if I'm working on a bunch of parts that all go together, and they share tools, like specific taps/drills etc, I can just add those from the crib of another part. So for example part A I use a .281 drill, this is not standard in my main crib. I finish that and start a new part, this also needs that drill, so I just grab it from the crib from part a. This works wonderfully, usually.
I'd say maybe 30-40% of the time it just shows an empty crib from the part I finished, so I can't import it into the current one. Its just blank, every category. If you open that part, all the tools are there. So I guess my question is why?
See attached. Currently I'm working on the _004 part and trying to pull in from the _003 part. _003 shows a totally empty tool crib, even though the tools are obviously there. In the second picture I'm in the _003 doc and you can see its on the right crib, tools are present but it still shows the crib as empty. How do I fix this? This never happens with my main crib, only on cribs that are part of a doc, and like I said its not all the time.
Thanks
Bruce
