Hi All
I am currently using Fusion 360 but I wanted to change/upgrade to FeatureCAM. I am using a Stepcraft UCCNC (4 axis) machine. I found a postprocessoror for Fusion 360 https://cam.autodesk.com/hsmposts unfortunately for FeatureCAM I can't find any for my machine. Is there a solution to this problem? is it possible to (easily- i'm not pro programmer) convert *.cps to *.cnc ?
Thanks
Sam
Hi @p.lapeta
Unfortunately, you will need a new post. Fusion posts are not compatible with FeatureCAM.
The good new is that FeatureCAM has some free posts available. Do you have FeatureCAM installed now, or are you just kicking tires?
Hi Christopher,
Thanks for the reply.
I don't have the software yet. I had the opportunity to "use" Featurecam in a company I cooperate with. I was impressed how easy it is to work with this software. But before I spend money and time to learn all the details, I would like to be sure that the program will work with my CNC without problems.
If there is no ready posts for Uccnc I understand I should try the 30 day trial period and test it with available/free * .CNC? Do you know any better and more effective method?
Best Regards
Sam
Hi @p.lapeta
As long as the machine you are running with FeatureCAM is a standard type piece of CNC equipment. What I mean by standard, I mean:
Your UCCNC will have no issues working with FeatureCAM. I'd image a post will be very easy to modify for that machine. The control works of G & M codes that are pretty standard.....no worries there.
The only thing you need to be wary of is costs. FeatureCAM is much more expensive than Fusion 360.
Is there something pre-made? I have no experience in modifyng post processors and there's the risk of damaging the machine. Am I right?
