Partmaker Post Processor Resources

Does anyone know of any good resources for learning the Partmaker Post Processor syntax? I'm new to editing the post but know some basics of computer programming languages. A little HTML and a little Python specifically. Are there any training classes/resources are available outside of Partmaker? I'd like to learn this on my own time and work is the only place it seems that this can be done by doing a 'cause and effect' kind of learning.

Any and all input is highly appreciated!

Thanks,

Cody

Hi Cody,

I'm pretty sure the language is its own thing, I've not found any resources other that PartMaker.

Are the changes you want to make just personal preference or are they thing that Partmaker should really put right or add into the post ?

If you do your own alterations make a copy before every change so you always have one that works if you break it

Cody,

I'm in the same boat, trying to learn what does what without much guidance is a chore! Honestly, the ConfigPost Reference Help (Help Topics from the Help dropdown menu in ConfigPost) has a lot of good info. I'm fortunate enough to still have an old Delcam manual that does a slightly better job of explaining things. I've also got a fair selection of posts for other machines and found that referencing them to see some different methods was helpful.

This forum is also a great place to ask questions about specific things, there are a lot of knowledgeable people willing to help with any questions you may have.

Cody,

here is the 2016 version of the post config manual.

it won't contain the latest reserve words added to the newer software but it should give you good basic info on how to work with the post.

Phil, is there any way to stay on top of the newest reserve words?

I know you added <ELSE> IN 2018.

Is there a chance of adding a "What's New" to the ConfigPost help menu for added words or logic?

We by policy must do all post edits in house, and cannot send to AD for support, so it's pretty important for us to stay on top of the newest stuff.

Thanks!

Chris,

Some are cosmetic and the major one would be to correct rechucking on the Tsugami. I'm at a stand still right now because the company is in the middle of moving so I'm not in a huge rush. Mainly I'm just interested in learning how to right a post. We use MasterCAM for our Lathes and Partmaker for the Swiss style machines. I was wanting to write a post for our Haas Lathes.

If you look in your postlib directory for pm-turn (C:\Partmaker\pm-turn\Postlib), you will find a number of posts. there is an existing Haas post in there. You could probably start there and save a ton of time starting from scratch. Being such a simple post, it would probably be good practice.

Thank you Robert! That's exactly what I was wanting to do. Start with something a little easier to get a feel for it.

I'll look into that.
