Currently inside Featurecam the lathe thread tool properties are limited to tip radius, tip angle and the min / max pitch. This is great if the thread you machine does not call out a root width and the lead / flank angle are identical.
What about Acme, Stub Acme and Buttress to name a few. Sure we can program the lead and thread height correctly but the simulation / part's appearance will not correctly reflect what the part should look like.
If you use the set-up sheet feature inside Featurecam, the tool's and part's appearance on the set-up document will not be correct. This possibility causing confusion on the shop floor or worse resulting in a scrap part.
I was wondering how many of Featurecam users see a value in having added lathe thread tool properties of a root width, lead angle, and flank angle. These additional options would be displayed when the thread style is changed in the tool property window.
Even if using a custom drawn insert was added to the thread tool properties these threads could be displayed correctly.
I requested these changes / add-ons to the Autodesk development team.

I agree with Taylor on this threading issue. I find it hard to believe in 2024 that this is an issue as competing software has had multiple threading insert options i.e. Acme, 8-round, Buttress, etc. for 20 years. We need to get this option for defining threading tool soon. Eventually we need to be able to use a grooving tool for threading as well.
