Material Feed (For 20mm tool)

In the Feeds & Speeds window, one needs to complete the Rough and Finish measurments/boxes for a "Feed (For 20mm tool)",

Question:  How many flutes has FeatureCam allowed for the 20mm tool?

Hi @Anonymous

The image you are displaying shows the general speeds and feeds for that material type, not tool sizes or tool definitions.

When FeatureCAM calculates the values for the operations you have defined, FeatureCAM leans on these values first to defined speeds and feeds, but it also relies on the information stored within the tool parameters.

In the image below, you can see that this tool has (4) cutting flutes and it is defined as HSS with no coating.  These variables would have affect on the behind the scenes calculation for whatever operations this tool is being used in.

You can also store set speeds and feeds directly into the tool properties.  If you do this, FeatureCAM then refers to these values first, before it looks at the material information.  Obviously if you dial a tool in with optimal values, we want to store these for future use, rather than relying on the default values.

Hope this helps.
