What is new? Or only rename 2021 to 2022?

I am very excited to see that FeatureCAM is still moving forward with development. I am also happy to see that it now supports SolidWorks 2021.

Has anyone been brave enough to test drive it yet?

I'm not sure I would call this release moving forward with development. They made the isolines black.........that's it.

Hello, i have installed and tested it.

The centerline simulation lines are black, and drawing lines for some reason doesn't work anymore for me still trying to solve this issue.

Program shuts down without warning when posting code,  solved this by Running as administrator.

But the posted g-code is correct wich is nice.

Up until now i will continue  using 2021.

I'm confused by this release.

The fact that they added a new feature (as trivial as it is, black isolines is a new feature rather than a maintenance job) means that somebody at AD is still working on it.

I'm not really sure what that means. If I were in charge at AD Manufacturing, I would not employ someone to spend a year adding a feature that would take a few hours to implement.

Either they have one guy still working on FC who has zero morale left due to the obvious project death march, who maybe even quit a few days/weeks after the 2021 release and this is all he had done in that time, or they have one guy still working on FC who is actually doing some real work on it, but is seriously overburdened and didn't have anything substantive ready for the 2022 release timeframe.

The latter seems like wishful thinking, and the former seems extremely unlikely, because why bother with this release at all if that was the case? Somebody still has to maintain the release...

Is there a third option that I'm overlooking??

I think the global situation with the pandemic and such can also be to blame it has affected alot of industries.

In my opinion they should have released an update for 2021 instead of a new 2022 version.

But if Featurecam does not release new feature or just improve their 5axis simultanious features then it will become to expensive in comparison to other software's.

I like featurecam i still think its one of the best multi purpose cam software's, but eventually you have to leave a sinking ship.

There's nobody working on it. They had an intern from the fusion team add a checkbox that changes a color code, and then put him back on fusion.

I asked what was going on a year ago. Below is part of an email.

I love you suggestion "My suggestion would be to include all of the cam packages somehow with tabs on the toolbar. "

This is EXACTLY what we are attempting to do with Fusion 360,  it's not without its challenges.
