My suggestion now is to allow IMATE on factory layout.
When we do not ride with connectors we need using the assembly constrains on Inventor, however the restrictions are same three ever and could be as follows:
One of the landing surface, that exists;
One of the X position and one of the Y position
The last two can be created with IMATE and this facility help a lot the users when using the asset.
My new suggestion is: when publish asset, this publishing generate a zip file (or any other type of file, and my suggestion is that be custom to Autodesk Factory) other example is .jar files that are a many .java files. And this file receive treatment inside the suite according the situation.
Why this? In my case is very annoying because I need manage many type of files in my document manager (no is Vault) to flux of factory stay ok.
My suggestion now is to convert some pallets of the factory or other resources in ribbons or other possibilities to manage informations.
This is because when work with layouts the pallets consume a big area of the screen.
In my case I usually work with three pallets: model tree, factory properties and asset browser and there is little left over for drawing layout.

We’re using Process Analysis 360 software to model a fluid process. The software does not appear to support fluid batch processes natively. The reason is because the connecting lines between process equipment have a storage capacity, like a conveyor line would in moving a hard good from one machine to the next. In fluid processing, this isn’t possible – the batch must be transferred from one machine to the next before the first can start again.
Trying to model this behavior by setting Capacity of connection to 1 doesn't model it correctly. It doesn't quite work.
The reason is because the line connector still has a capacity of “1” unit minimum. What happens is that if a downstream piece of equipment is busy, an upstream unit will still transfer in the connector and “wait” in that connector, while the upstream equipment starts another unit. This is not possible in fluid process as the batch unit cannot sit in a pipe line (the connector here would represent a pipe line and not a conveyor as it is intended with hard good manufacturing).
With this problem, the upstream equipment process begins its next batch while the downstream is still busy with the previous batch, and the “orphan” batch just sits on the connector in limbo. What needs to happen instead is that line connector cannot have any holding value – capacity of “0”. Further, the processes connected by the connector need to integrate – the upstream process cannot transfer its unit until the downstream process is ready to receive it. Because of this limitation we have to build out these production models in Excel manually.
Everytime I open Factory Properties, I need to enlarge the first column (please see attached picture). It would be great if you can make it automatically resize with the lenght of the text.
I found this problem very annoying, pretty much all the factory blocks that has a big text on the left column needs to be adjusted every time you made some editing. It's absurd to keep doing this while I'm on the time crunch!

I just read about the chain builder in the Factory Warehouse. It would be pretty nice if we could use this tool directly in the FDS.
Things we need :
- Draw the polyline also in Inventor (we don't want to leave Inventor :D)
- Make an Chain Asset out of our own assets and define the length and so on with our own parameters (also our own native language)
- Define which asset is the straight, turn, Y-Piece, and maybe 30°/45° lines from a straight line
- Define the connectors which should be used
Good afternoon! I would love an option to add a drawing file (IDW or DWG) to a published asset. Ideally, I would like to create an asset (even an assembly asset) and be able to place views in a drawing, dimension and even add a Parts List. When ready to publish the asset, I would like to add the drawing file as well as an NWC file, and the drawing file would automatically update, as the asset is modified inside an assembly. Now when I create a layout, instead of having an entire BOM of all the parts, I could open up the drawing of a specific assembly asset and see its BOM and detailed drawing. This would help with more assembly operations where users have to see how the assets are constructed (or send instructions to the final installer). It would be a great addition if it were possible to pan with a mouse scroll button like in Autocad, Inventor, Navisworks, etc ... Because it is a bit annoying to have to be selecting the pan command every time you need to move the camera and it is also simpler for new users who already use some CAD software.
the FDS is incredible slow synchronizing larger layouts. Make is faster!!! I was playing a bit with LODs insidse FDS. Problem is, that ACAD don't know anything about LODs.
If I suppress components via LOD only the unsupressed components will be transmitted. This can speed up sync between INV and ACAD. To visualize the suppressed stuff inside ACAD I'm thinking about a special Layerset similar to the wonderful Layergroup-functionality in AutoCAD Mechanical.
So a couple of parts are suppressed in INV
- some are placed on layer green
- some are placed on layer red
These suppressed information (if they were already synchronized before!) will be moved on an additional temporarily layer named "LOD-green" and "LOD-red" and they are locked! These parts won't be synchronized!
Can speed up sync!
Or make it faster anyway! I hate that blue circle of horror....
I would like to create a category like "Cut Assets" with the same functionality that exists when we want to put a new connection in the tube and pipes environment, when we want to place that connection in an existing tube.
I need this to work with walls mainly, so two categories "Cut Assets" and "Walls" could be created that could work together as in the case of pipes.
These assets would cut off the base asset and could be positioned with restrictions normally.
Pit assets are a good example, however, so we put assets vertically not just on floor components.
Currently when we want the asset to adapt to a size we can click the measurement tool (red frame) and the size will be placed in the asset.
However, this does not establish any further restriction. My suggestion is to use this concept of the measurement tool but the measurement would be performed between points A and B or A and C and the asset would be connected with the connectors shown.
Currently it is not possible to update the assets through the Inventor API.
At least I could not if someone knew how to accept the answer with pleasure!
I would like to create an update command for the Assets through the API, currently the assets can be modified through parameters and it is totally possible to handle assets through the API.
However when values are exempted the asset on the screen is updated but its assets are not.
I believe it's simple to create this "update asset".

It would be nice, to get the User Parameters also as Export Parameters, to use them in a part list.
Often we have information in that parameters, that we need also in a part list.
It would be nice, to export the part list, with all done Factory Properties (parameters) to an xml file.
The reason is, that we want to reread the parts list in our Camos (ERP System), to create automaticly an quotation with all nessassary informations.
yesterday I created a project drawing, where I used the connector points.
With the connector points I also used the created connector class.
Most time this is great, but yesterday it was not so usefull, because I need a different parameter like the connector classe told the asset.
I created two assets, a machine and an equipment, that belongs to the machine.
In the connector class, I told the equipment, to ask, which machine typ is connected to it. According to the machine typ, the equipment change his size.
So far, so good
But yesterday, I need a smaller size of the equipment and to make that possible, I had to delete the constrains that are created by using the connector points.
Now my Idea.
It would be great, to have an option, which turns the connector class on or of in an asset.
