I have a few ideas/requests regarding the Floor Settings in Inventor Factory Design.
Problem: Asset Chain Graphics is only a polyline when first created and requries a round trip for update. The polyline graphics are not effective or desirebale by the user and therefore may not be used.
Idea: Have a update graphics button (right click on Asset?) that would roundtrip the polyline to generate the planview graphics.
i´m testing the labs tool Process Simulation 360 and i think it is a great tool and easy to use. But i don´t know the meaning of MTTR and MTBF and there is no discription.
And now my idea:
Create my layout in ACAD Architecture and put in all of my material flow, product and so on. Export an XML or something else and load it in this new labs tool. In Process Simulation 360 i want to check out if my layout can reach my output or what happen if my processor is faster, slower or stops for 2 hours because of a crash in the maschine.
A nice to have: All operations and stations are in Process Simulation 360 from my ACAD layout export.
Next: Process Simulation 360 integrated in Factory Design Suite 2013.
I think it would e a good idea to include a version of Revit in FDS. how else would you conbine a Revit 3D model with a system model to enable to creation of contextual sections i.e. sections that include the building and the system. Inventor can import Revit but not the scale of projects that we work with.
I would like the ability to label a parameter as key, but hide it from the view of the users. That way it could be passed along via Connectors, but not accidentally edited by users. For example, there may be some parameters that I set in the starter asset that gets passed along to each of the following assets. These could either be explicit choices or values that are driven by a formula. Regardless, I want that value to be passed along and consistent.
Unfortunately for a connector class file to be applied, it requires that passable parameters are set as Key, which will then display them in the Factory Properties dialog box in the layout. This is what I would like to be avoided for some of the asset parameters, because the users may end up changing them...

The idea is to have a warning when you open a factory layout that give you an information if your assets is up to date and the possibility to update individually each asset to the latest version if needed
I am working on document factory layouts in the Inventor drawing environment, but have hit a snag. The drawing environment is great for creating my plan, iso and side views, but I don't seem to be able to bring the Asset Tags (haven't tried Descriptors yet) into the drawing environment. Can we add this functionality into the drawing environment to save time having to relabel the components? This could either be placed near the asset, like in the AutoCAD sync'd file, a property in a text box pull down or even something that could be placed into a parts list. I have worked with many shop floor layouts that come from different contractors who don't have a good understanding of how to structure layers and thus the need arises to mere several layers into one. Shop floor layouts usually contain different colors and line types to help communicate the layout and flow of the layout. The merger command combines multiple layers into one layer then deletes the old layers but does not have an option to retain the properties of the objects within the layers that were merged. Could you add option (dialog box) to ask if you would like to retain object properties (Color, line type) when merging layers. Thanks!
If an asset is placed on a factory floor, and is replace by other asset using component replace, nameoof the event in broeser window is got getting updated.
In browswrer window, component name is not getting replace in the new component occurence name and number.
Worth if this is fixed.
Several customers have now requested that FDS allow users to compute the Return On Investment for their projects. This would allow users to understand project costs earlier in the design phase and have faster iteration of design optimization.
How it could work:
I’m a HVAC Engineer (Heat Ventilation Air Conditioning), experience nearing 5 years. Specially experienced in Cleanrooms & Industrial HVAC where consideration of minute things in HVAC are also prioritized. I have knowledge as well as capability to understand the depth of HVAC. I have seen people using your architectural software (especially RIVIT) only for modeling the plan & design. I couldn’t get an opportunity to deal with that application. But in case if the concept of heat load estimation, air flow calculation, friction loss, static pressure loss, level of filtration, Indoor Air Quality, in-filtration & ex-filtration, air balancing, details of enthalpy liberated by the equipment, thermal conductivity and other HVAC related detailing are include, I feel it will be an advance product which can simply the work of an Engineer, calculation will be precise and reduce the wastage (money & energy). This will lead a simplified automation, bms & much more.
I’m very much interested in such research & development. It would be a pleasure if I get opportunity to work on it.

I would like to create a category like "Cut Assets" with the same functionality that exists when we want to put a new connection in the tube and pipes environment, when we want to place that connection in an existing tube.
I need this to work with walls mainly, so two categories "Cut Assets" and "Walls" could be created that could work together as in the case of pipes.
These assets would cut off the base asset and could be positioned with restrictions normally.
Pit assets are a good example, however, so we put assets vertically not just on floor components.
This options are to easy to get the right position. In many cases the text needs to be specific to a location. Otherwise it will overlap with other geometry.
See this picture below: The block on the right is ok.
The asset (created by 2D asset creation) on the left, looks not great in the way the text is positioned.
The options for the text orientation with "below" or "center" is ok for an automatic process, but not for an final position.
Think about, this text will be printed and therefore it needs a good position.
When I edit the block and move the text position - than it needs to stay where I defined.
So my question is, can we add a option who say "Use Defined Text Position" with an check box?

Good afternoon! I would love an option to add a drawing file (IDW or DWG) to a published asset. Ideally, I would like to create an asset (even an assembly asset) and be able to place views in a drawing, dimension and even add a Parts List. When ready to publish the asset, I would like to add the drawing file as well as an NWC file, and the drawing file would automatically update, as the asset is modified inside an assembly. Now when I create a layout, instead of having an entire BOM of all the parts, I could open up the drawing of a specific assembly asset and see its BOM and detailed drawing. This would help with more assembly operations where users have to see how the assets are constructed (or send instructions to the final installer). Currently when we want the asset to adapt to a size we can click the measurement tool (red frame) and the size will be placed in the asset.
However, this does not establish any further restriction. My suggestion is to use this concept of the measurement tool but the measurement would be performed between points A and B or A and C and the asset would be connected with the connectors shown.
It would be nice if we could measure from the 2D Overlay to 3D Faces or generally measure in the 2D overlay in Inventor. So actually you need to use Inventor and AutoCAD at the same time side by side.

Because the important dimensions refer to customer's items, like walls, columns or somthing like that !
in many cases it would be helful to have the opportunity to mark a Part/Assets as a reference but keep it normal in the drawing. Therefore it would be great to have another Version of "Reference"!

- Normal in Drawing (also the coloured view)
The replace with asset function in the Feature Pack is nice but it doesnt improve the workflow pretty much if the connectors doesnt reconnect. It would be nice if Connectors reconnect using their names. When you replace an asset it is mostly with anything similar and the connector points use the same names.
