I just read about the chain builder in the Factory Warehouse. It would be pretty nice if we could use this tool directly in the FDS.
Things we need :
- Draw the polyline also in Inventor (we don't want to leave Inventor :D)
- Make an Chain Asset out of our own assets and define the length and so on with our own parameters (also our own native language)
- Define which asset is the straight, turn, Y-Piece, and maybe 30°/45° lines from a straight line
- Define the connectors which should be used
Good afternoon! I would love an option to add a drawing file (IDW or DWG) to a published asset. Ideally, I would like to create an asset (even an assembly asset) and be able to place views in a drawing, dimension and even add a Parts List. When ready to publish the asset, I would like to add the drawing file as well as an NWC file, and the drawing file would automatically update, as the asset is modified inside an assembly. Now when I create a layout, instead of having an entire BOM of all the parts, I could open up the drawing of a specific assembly asset and see its BOM and detailed drawing. This would help with more assembly operations where users have to see how the assets are constructed (or send instructions to the final installer). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Hope all is well and have a most blessed night!
Currently it is not possible to update the assets through the Inventor API.
At least I could not if someone knew how to accept the answer with pleasure!
I would like to create an update command for the Assets through the API, currently the assets can be modified through parameters and it is totally possible to handle assets through the API.
However when values are exempted the asset on the screen is updated but its assets are not.
I believe it's simple to create this "update asset".
It would be nice, to export the part list, with all done Factory Properties (parameters) to an xml file.
The reason is, that we want to reread the parts list in our Camos (ERP System), to create automaticly an quotation with all nessassary informations.
Two of best customers (Many seats) have Problems whith assets whith many Parameters
In Ilogic Formular we can change the order of Properties/Parameters and create Kategories.
In Factory we can only create Kategories for Propertys not for FX_Parameters and the Order ist Alphabetical.
Please Change the optics from Factory Property window and create an Editor like in Inventor Ilogic Formular
My specific desire is for Descriptor or Extended Descriptor to read the Asset Properties (not iProperties), manipulate the string, then display as the Descriptor iLogic or Extended Descriptor iLogic.
Of course there would be many other uses for Factory API.
Would like the ability to deplay the DWG overlay in the Inventor drawing.
Also would like to able to create dimensions relative to the dwg overlay.
I believe this is a key feature missing from the factory design suite. This would allow me to present one drawing file that contains all the 2D and 3D representations.
I think it would e a good idea to include a version of Revit in FDS. how else would you conbine a Revit 3D model with a system model to enable to creation of contextual sections i.e. sections that include the building and the system. Inventor can import Revit but not the scale of projects that we work with.
There are many customers who do not use the Fds with Autocad. They do not use the Synchronisation between Autocad and Inventor. They only use Inventor for placing Assets to create their Layout and they use the Inventor Drawing for detailing the Factory Layout because it is easy to create side views and intersection views. Therefore it is not possible to use the asset labelling in the Inventor drawing. It would be a nice feature for them, if the object labelling of the assets, which can be done on the Autocad Layout, could be shown in the Inventor drawing.
When I publish an Asset, please have the 2D asset set to not allow Explode in AutoCAD.
REASON: This will minimize the chances of a 2D only user exploding the block assets.
I have a whish for the Configurator 360.
At the moment it is only possible, to use assemblies or singel ipt parts in the configurator, but no complet configured FDS drawing.
It will be very nice, when it will be possible, that we can offer our customers these drawings over that way.
So they can configure the a complete factory over that.
It would be a good idea if we could have a "bylayer" colour option for parts used in FDS. i know you can override colours at the assembly level, but it would be great if this could be set by the Layer within FDS so that it only changed the elements that are set to "bylayer" within the part and not the whole object. i also know you can have a colour parameter within the asset, but this not what i'm after.
It would also be a good idea for invenotr to utilise the layer selected for the asset for the drawing views, so we do not have to manually assing layers...or at least have this as an option before you create the view/section etc..
Just an idea that could be ralized with the new technology available....
Wouldn´t it be neat to be able to walk through a facility that has not been built yet supported by a 3D wearable using the actual GPS data?
You could walk across the green field, have a look at the installations in the empty building etc... .
I´d think of this as a ver good way to spark discussions if the actual design team, as the customer could watch the virtual facility right where it would be,
adding markup through gps to the actual building layout. Other devices would enable more detailed tracking or markup.
No need to squeeze around a table anymore....
The Factory Asset Warehouse is a great tool to locate assets for AutoCAD and Inventor.
I feel an area has been overlooked – assets for 3ds Max Design.
Videos promote how useful 3ds Max Design is to animate the factory layout, but it is a tedious process to build bones and linkages to animate robots and similar equipment.
Wouldn't’t it be great if a user could browse the warehouse to find a fully rigged robot, fork truck, crane, or other factory asset and just drop it into 3ds Max Design? This could save a lot of time for users new to 3ds Max Design.
I welcome your feedback.
it would be useful to be able to connect the simulation block (source, processor...) to existing connection. This is important in the case I have multiple conveyors and I need to send the item to the conveyor that already conveys other items. If the conveyor is full (maximum capacity has been reached), the item has to wait until it can proceed to the main conveyor (main connection).
By creating an element with variants. No operations are updated when changing variant decals.
It should update all transactions without exception.
You should be able to edit the 2D block to be generated. To put elements in different layers, colors, line types, attributes, etc..
If you edit the generated 2D block factory (In AutoCAD Architecture for a change of color, line type, attributes, etc..), Might not work in AutoCAD flow -> Inventor correctly.
Please consider including AutoCAD Electrical in the suite to support wiring the equipment. ACE is already included in PrDS, FDS users could benefit also.
Also please consider adding AutoCAD MEP to add support for wiring and plumbing the building to run these utilities to the machine equipment.
If machinery moves it would be great if the building wiring/plumbing model could update.
This could provide an even more complete BOM of equipment and MEP requirements for a design layout.
Please don't raise the cost of FDS Ultimate.
If ACE or ACMEP cannot be included, please make them available as an add-on module for a reasonable cost (less than $500).
Thanks for your time and attention.
my next idea is related to my previous idea :) I think it would be useful to have an option to prioritize operations on processors with multiple operations that are not sequential. Currently, if a processor has multiple operations that are "filled" with product at the same time, the operations are processed randomly and one is not able to determine and set up a desired order of operations.
Ability to edit the generated 2D blocks Factory to create dynamic blocks, adding capabilities (visibility, scale, stretch, matrix, etc..)
I've tried to edit blocks and generated 2D Factory, not recognized back then updated Inventor from AutoCAD Architecture.
We're finding customers already asking us this feature, which would give infinite possibilities 2D/3D workflow.
