Connectors - Ability to Flip / Toggle Direction

This requirement has come up many times in the last few years. We need to create a single connector, with a 'default' direction, that can be 'toggled' by 90 degrees, 180 degrees, 270 degrees when connecting in a layout.

For many components there is more than one possibility for the direction of connection to nearby objects. Products like Revit are brilliant at this - you can hit the Tab key on placing into a layout to allow the user to very quickly get the right orientation. 

I'm aware you can place multiple connectors on the same point and RMB 'select other' when using the 'connect' tool in a layout but this is far from efficient and generally involves trial and error.

I agree that connector directions can be improved. Maybe you already know, but I use the following work around which might bring you closer to a solution:

Create a work plane which rotates around an axis. Connect the angle to a parameter and set the parameter by some Ilogic code. Point the red connector arrow to this workplane.

The direction of the connector becomes programmable in this way without the need for additional connectors.
