Better Connector Points

Better Connector Points

Hello,

if you have a very modular system in the FDS the connector Points are getting a mess for the Performance and handling in big layouts.

Nice examples:

If you have a conveyor with up to 10 supports in unregular distances you Need to create 10 connector Points.

 - It would be great to give connector Points the possibility to be used multiple times.

If we place a sideguard also all the connector Points for walls, supports, and so on Display but we dont Need them at this Moment

- It would be great to have a Setting like: Connector Point Support:1 only Shows up if you place an asset with an Support:1 in it or anything simular.

Regards

In our implementation, we can have an arbitrary number of things connecting to a single conveyor, so we have had to daisy-chain those add-ons. Each has two connectors so the first consumes the conveyor connector, and the second remains available for the next add-on we need to insert. This creates unbelievable headaches.

Connectors not being consumed upon use would be fantastic.

I should add, Connectors that have the option to not be consumed upon use would be great. Some connectors we want to function exactly how they do now--we want them getting consumed because only one thing can connect to them at once.

It would like to have this functionality too.

Maybe it is possible to create something like 'visible connector classes', so we don't have green connectors only, but also blue, red, etc. To which one it should or should not connect, and if it is re-useable or not, must then be chosen for all classes, or even for each connector.

It would be great of we could define connectors for multi usage. So we doesn't have to place many on one point.

Dear factory users,

we are considering a new feature that allows users assigning the different color to the connector in the asset builder.

And meanwhile, new color connector will be assisting in only same color connectors being snapped and then connected.

Thank you very much Xuesong!

Should I update my Idea to:
- Option to use a Connector multiple times

- And only these colors which are inside the used asset show up in the layout while placing it (mainly for performance reasons)

More control over what is allowed to connect to what (with several classes of connectors) is good, but do you have any news about being able to reuse a connector/connect multiple things to a single connector?

Hi there, thank you for all the ideas in this thread! Currently we are only implementing connector colors - these are colors, not types/classes. The idea is to make it visually easier to identity the connector you the user consider compatible. Software will not enforce any new rules about connectivity. We are considering other ideas in this and other threads, and will post updates as we move forward. thank you, Oleg

To have a color to each connector has been implemented in FDS 2018.1.

The rest of the parts of that Factory Idea is being taken into consideration in the near future release.
