Factory.xlt and Excel

I'm not sure when it started, but every time i open the factory design utilities, Excel decides to open and look for the Factory.xlt template.  Has anyone had this issue, and if so, what did you do to correct it?

I have not encounterd this issue before. When you said, "open the factory design utilities" what do you mean? Launch Inventor with FDU add-in enabled? or something else.

Yes, I start Inventor (2020) with the FDU add-in loaded. Approximately 5
minutes after starting Inventor, Excel decides to start itself and gives me
the aforementioned error. I have found the factory.xlt excel template and
tried to put it into the XLSTART location, as well as opening and saving it
as both a XLTX and XLTM, again saved in the XLSTART location, but this did
not alleviate the error.

Sorry for the delay, we still haven't found a workflow that would reproduce the issue. It sounds not right that Excel should open up by itself after 5 minutes. Would you please share us the Inventor data? is this also reproducing on other machines?

Do you see this message when you are not working with any Factory layout or do you see this only after you open a layout?

Typically any layout.

A few more questions.

1) Where did you find the factory.xlt template? If it was in the XLSTART path, can you remove it and try again?

2) If you start Excel yourself, do you see this error message?

3) If you create a new layout in Inventor, do you see this error message?

4) Do you use your own Factory layout template? If so, can you share your template with us?

Xl Template was in XLStart as expected.

I deleted and reinstalled the template.

- update:

1. I have not had the issue recently.  there was a comprehensive Microsoft Office update recently that seemed to address the issue - as well as many other Office issues.  If i have this issue pop up again, i will re-open the thread.
