I agree, connectors are locked for a reason. However, we had a client that in need of adding few more inches to pipes that will be welded in the field, for that, we created a connectors that adds 3" or 6" trim to plain end pipes, so they will be swapping connectors to accommodate the extra few inches as needed while maintaining connectivity.
In this case, the ability to change connectors works for such case. Previously they had to manually adjust the pipes and drag them into fittings to get that extra piping but as we know, it will cause a disconnect.
It's even worse. They allow to stretch a part with a calculated (LOCKED) length. Then have the guts to say it works the same as in Cad (but it isnt), and it is by design. Then they show an example where the make a calculated field (but dont lock it) in a part that is alread in a drawing and strecht it to show they are correct... They don't even know their own product anymore. You lock parameters in the .itm file on folder or specification, not once it places as you can't lock a parameter in a placed part.
@louie.mdanat for that case you should create another part to allow that, or not lock them at all. You can assign your default connectors in a specification. There is no excuse for overriding locked items. They are locked for a reason.
