For users that have to work with multiple disciplines it would be nice to be able to save multiple CAD Settings and have the ability to switch settings in the database.
This can be simulated now as it is but does require an exit/restart of AutoCAD to seperate configurations that all point to the same database. This is how we manage imporial and soft metric, between trades. The settings are stored in CADINFO.MAP which is placed along side the MAP.INI file. You just need multiple folders each with their own MAP.INI that all point to the same database/report/items.
But yes, it would be nice to be able to do this with a simple dropdown within the program for folks that jump between trades. If you were able to unload and reload the ARX, you could do it as well like I do with seperate configs but Autodesk doesn't allow unloading of the ARX any longer.
If you're not using Profiles, you might be able to make those work for this but with some other side-effects.
This would be a very useful ability. Our designers switch between trades, and have to shut down and restart CAD just to pick a Configuration with the right CAD Settings.
