"Not Cut" option in CAMDUCT 2023 Item develop

Hi,

I'm new here and I may not quite know the rules  about asking questions yet.

I am also a new Camduct user and currently working with a trial version of Camduct 2023.

I would like to pin the "not cut" option on some items on the develop screen. If I create a new item with MAKEPAT and check "not cut" for some parts and then save, the "not cut" option is still unchecked when I add it to the job list.

So every time i want to use the item I want some parts to be not cut by default.

I hope my question is clear.

Hi There

it seems that if you check the not cut box on the pattern development in the library and then add it in to a job the not cut box becomes unticked. Thgis is an issue with camduct.

This is not something i have discovered before but a way around this is to add the item to your job, open up the edit part screen and develop it, then tick the not cut box on the patterns you dont want and close.

now save this as a catalogue item into the part folders and it retains then not cut option for each part you selected.

not a perfect solution but it works.

Also if you right click an item and select options and then costing you can change the entire parts cut type from here. this may be of more use unless you only want some of the patterns within a part not to be cut. this method will cut all or none of the part.

hope you understand the explanation and it helps.

Hi Mike,

Thank you very much for your reply. Unfortunatly it doesn't work for me as you describe because I want the following, maybe my question wasn't really clear because I use G..gle Translate :slightly_smiling_face:

When I create a new item with Makepat and want to use some parts of the item I want to have the not cut box checked for some patterns by default. I can't get this done. Every time I use this item I always have to check the not cut box for some patterns. Again I hope my question is clear.

When I check the not cut box and add it to the job list, there is no problem.

Hi There

nothing wrong with your description but i think my explanation may be confusing.

  1. create your part using the makepat command.
  2. add the item to a job.
  3. now open the part and in the developments tick the items you dont want cut out, and close the part
  4. now from you job contents screen ...right click your part and hit save as catalogue....you can select the previous part name from your makepat and this will save over your original part in the database.
  5. now when you add this to your job the not cut boxes should still be ticked everytime.

if this does not make sense i may have the time to create a small video showing what i mean when i get the time

best of luck

Hi Mike,

When I do it as you describe then I have a catalog item in my item folders. When I want to use it again with different dimensions and double click on it I get the "add items" dialog instead of the pattern takeoff dialog.

It concerns CID 309. There are 4 parts. By defalult, I only want to use parts 1 and 2. I want parts 3 and 4 to "not cut" in the pattern takeoff dialog by default. In your way I have to right click in the item folder and then click edit instead of just double click for the takeoff dialog. This way I would have to double click for some patterns and some right click+edit in the item folder before the takeoff dialog.

No worries with that

where the item is saved in your folder, right click it and select properties and then go to options and un-tick the catalogue button and hit ok.

now when you select this part it will give you full options when adding to your job and the selected patterns you don't want cut should still be ticked as not cut.
