Fabrication cadMEP launch.

The company I work for will soon start using fabrication cadMEP. I have a licensed copy of autocad 2017 at home. I downloaded the free 30 day trial of fabrication in an effort to learn some of the basics at home, so I would have some familiarity with the product, which is due to be introduced in about a months time at work.

The only download available was 2016 fabrication cadMEP, which I installed without problem. On starting autocad 2017, I first tried the takeoff command with no success, so then tried the APPLOAD command. The dialogue box then appears which by itself has located the correct cadMEP folder location. I click on the CADmep20_1x64.arx file but it fails to load. Incidentally I also tied the file below also named CADmep20_1x64 but a .dbx extension.

Has anyone else had or seen this issue before? I was wondering if a licensed version could run with a trial version? Or perhaps there was a 2017/16 conflict which seems unlikely.

Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to load Fabrication 2016 into AutoCAD 2017? If that's the case, that wont work. Below is a link to download the 2017 trials.

That was exactly it. I downloaded the trial from Autodesk.co.uk not your link of .com.  For some reason the U.K. Site is only offering 2016.

Downloaded and installed, it all worked straight away. Many thanks for your help.

Has anyone come across a particularly good site for tutorials, either written or video ? Or for that matter a book specific for fabrication CADmep ?
