Export a fabrication job (.MAJ) from Revit to Fab cadmep 2016

Hello 

I'm trying to open my ".maj" file in Fab Cadmep 2016 after exporting it out from Revit 2016.

Can someone tell me how to do this? Seemed simple at the time.

I opened "Fab" and the only option was to open cad like files, dwgs, dxf, dwt, etc . everything else was grayed out.............. 

The items are (2) pipes and an 90 degree elbow taking from MEP Fabrication Parts on the right hand side menu. (service ADSK - PLUMBING)

Use the command "openjob" to use the .maj files.openjob

Where would I have looked to find an answer to my question, other than your words of wisdom?

Can you give me a source that I can go to that would have answered that question? Sorry to have to put you on the spot and all................

Training in an integral part of this program. There is a help file that comes with the program, used to be in a .chm file but apparently the help file is online now. Enceptia (reseller) has put together a book for beginners, it is available on Amazon. Also, join xtracad.com, many professionals with expertise in CADmep can assist you as well.

I would have to say, this forum is easily the best place for answers. Slightly slower than google but any problem you have come up against someone else will have asked the question!

Also there is a fundamentals page autodesk has thrown together, it links to youtube page and has class material with it also.

What command to you use to export/ save it as a MAJ from Fabrication?

The command is CREATECAM, or if you are in 2017 you can use CREATEREVITMAJ. CREATECAM will change the status of the items being exported depending on the settings in your database. CREATEREVITMAJ will not change the status of any items.

Have you ever had an issue with certain fabrication parts not being able to import properly? When ever I try to import flanges it tells me that there are no fabrication parts in the MAJ file.

I am using 2017 and the command createrevitmaj.

Yes I have, some of the updates were supposed to help with that. Are you using the latest or still in 2016?

How about issues regarding not having the add-ins button for export/import in Revit 2018? I'm currently at a stand still with trying to export an maj revit file into CADmep. My 2018 Revit software doesn't have the icon button. Had Tech support and other sources with no luck.
