Duct Connections automatic based on size or parameters or specifications?

Hello All,

Using Fabrication CADmep 2016 here.  I am trying to set up my round duct so that if I put in any duct with a diameter of 22" or greater, the connection type would be accuflange and any duct under 22" would be raw.  Can anyone point me the right direction to do this?

Thank you in advance, Bill

You need to setup your conditions in the service. I'm showing piping but it's the same for duct...

Backnblack,

i found that and changed the settings, but i can't make it work.  i have attached 3 screen shots. 1. spec setting-i changed the spec to anything over 22" to be accuflange 2. round item info-showing that i selected a round bought out over 22" 3. the flange info of that round is not accuflange.  Don't know what i did wrong, any info on how to make my changes take effect would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,Bill

You need to setup the breakpoints in the Service Template, not in the database.

Backnblack,

Thank you for helping me on this.  I don't know what they heck I am doing at this point.  I have located the service template and attached a picture.  I feel like I am in the wrong area as everything says support positions and I am trying to control the flange type.  I put in Accuflange at greater then 22".  I manually typed in Accuflange.  Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,Bill

Ignore the supports...

Do you have everything for the system you are drawing IN the service template?

For example I have all the Copper and Weldbend items to draw CHWS.

If you look back at my screenshot you will see..

Copper <=2.0  what this means is all piping 2" and Down will be copper

A53 Sch40 >2.0 and <=10.0 this means larger than 2" and upto and including 10" will be A52 Schedule 40 steel pipe

A53 Standard >10.0 this means larger than 10" will be standard A53 steel piping

This is how you set it so when you cross that threshold you change materials

You just need to set up your specifications by pressure class. Go to 'Edit Main Database' and to 'Specifications'. Start with a 2" pressure class and enter all of your breakpoints, then apply the spec to your service and make sure EVERY connector setting in each item is unlocked and voila. It should work. I just spent a week sorting all of this in our database. The breakpoints or 'conditions' in the service template are to tell it when to use certain items over others, in the spec, you are using the same item but just changing the connectors. The spec controls everything as long as everything in the item is unlocked. Hope this helps.
