Display Fabrication duct with hidden lines in Revit

How do I get Fabrication duct to display with hidden lines in Revit?

See attached PDF for screenshots of my settings. I have received a project where the hidden lines display, but cannot figure out what settings I need to change to make the duct appear with hidden lines when starting from my own template. I think it must be in the Fabrication database, but am not sure what the setting is.

Hi Julian,

The first is to check that your discipline on your properties pallete is set to Mechanical. If this is set to coordination, the hidden lines won't display as intended.

The discipline is set to Mechanical. The hidden lines were showing until I added a color filter.

The filter that you have added. I have similar filters that look for the service name. The colours we use only to override the line colour. In other words, I'm not shading everything in. Have you checked to see if your filter has an override on the line styles? If so clear the override and only apply a colour.

Thanks for the reply.

My color filter only applies to the color of the lines, not the pattern, so that is not it.

I started a test project from the out of the box mechanical template, & it displays the hidden lines on the fab duct, so it is a setting within my starting template file.

When I compare the Line styles available in my template to the out of the box mechanical template, the dialog box & the available line styles are different. (see attached PDF) My template was upgraded from an earlier version.

Do you think that is the problem, there is no MEP hidden line style in my template? I tried to transfer the project settings from the out of the box template to my template, for the line styles, but they did not change.

Is there a way to update my template, so it will show the new style dialog box for Line styles?

This makes me wonder if there are other things in my older, upgraded template that are missing the functionality of what is available in the out-of-the mechanical template. Is there a better way to transfer custom settings from an older version of a project template, besides upgrading the template file?

My previous respond was comparing line styles to line patterns, so was not valid.

It still has something to do with the template file, I just have to figure out what setting is different.

The Fab duct was not showing hidden lines because of the fill pattern. Once I removed the solid fill & it's transparency, the hidden line show.
