How many people use design line for duct work? If so, can you explain the pro's and con's? As of now, I just piece meal the project using the Attacher. If there is a more efficient way I'm open to any and all ideas.

Thanks for the responses.

Did you ever receive insight on your question? I’m interested because I have wondered the same thing. I’m surprised at how questions like this go unanswered on such a specific forum.  In my opinion design line can be extremely useful and accurate when set up correctly. This is true for sheet metal and plumbing and piping. In fact importing from revit relies on design line. Using the attached method to correct and modify from there.   Still... let me know what you come up with! Thanks.

John,
Other than you posting to the topic, I have not heard anything either. Its kind of sad knowing this forum is out and it has a lot of posts but nobody wants to answer my question. I will keep you posted.
Thanks for the reply.

I haven't used design line for my sheet metal.  I believe it to be fast enough to draw and drag.  I am partial though coming from a program that worked with a similar attacher arrow

Yes, we use design line for HVAC sheetmetal in our estimating department.

Takes a bit to get it set up, but once it is, it works pretty good.

We do not detail with Design Line, but use the attacher method...

I believe that is the consensus when it comes to Design Line for the sheetmetal detailing. Thanks for your response.

What I have found is that when it comes to sheet metal your going to want to use a few different avenues.  The attacher seems to be the easiest to start with but design line and multi point fill can be vary useful.  It takes a while but setting up your services and specs accordingly along with your button mapping is going to make design line work the way you want it to.  Making sure your buttons are in the right order and knowing what and when to exclude is a must.  Another thing that is overlooked is you can actually add a design line  to a line of duct or pipe.

The multi point fill is something that I haven't really used much at all but thing will come in handy as well.

This is like hybrid of attacher and design.

Hope this helps
