CADBLOCK Item Issues - Relative Paths

ISSUE 1:

We have long been apposed to the potential duplication of a dwg block reference to change something as simple as SS304 to SS316, but it is necessary based on our categorized folder structure. The simplest solution to this would be a central repository for the CADBLOCK references, but our various satellite offices can't be hard pathed to any particular drive/db location. Since that isn't an option we've tried just about every obvious version of relative pithing we can, but have found the only person who can successfully utilize it is the user who created the ITM in the first place. Does anybody know of the precise syntax that Fabrication is expecting to look backwards towards a centralized location or is in reference to ITEMS root? Again, we've had some  marginal success using relative paths so long as the user who created the ITM is the one pulling it and that isn't practical, but it makes me speculate that the ability is there. If anyone with insight on the topic of relative paths for CADBLOCK's could chime in here it would be appreciated.

If you keep the dwg block in the same folder as your item, it should be fine.

We currently do put the DWG's in the same location as the ITM and that does work, but what I am wanting to do is put them in the root of my VALVE's folder and have ITM's point backwards. I need this because we have tons of duplicated valve geometry between different wall thicknesses, slightly different stainless grades, dissimilar connectors that I just let the pattern draw on a plain end block, etcetera. It just causes a lot more dwg's to reside in the database than should be required.

A predefined centralized location of any kind (thinking map.ini) would even work fine. Maybe this is another idea station thing?

Gotcha, I understand. It does make it a bloated system.

Well I put something up in the idea station on this. So, if anyone else is having this problem or would like this feature, then go +Vote it.
