How can I activate with serial without signing in or signing up with an account? (education)

Educational forum says access denied when I try to post.

But I have the serial, I click continue, and then it wants me to sign in or create an account. This is for students. We can't be doing this. Maybe I did the wrong install or are they forcing this on everyone?

Someone give me an answer because even when I try to sign in it then presents me with a form to fill out for no reason and of course this just errors out when I patiently try to go through it. This is ridiculous.

There is no EDU software access without registering with Autodesk and getting verified then approved to be granted an EDU license.

There is no backdoor "I have a serial number" option anymore, those days have long gone with Autodesk.

Good luck.

Due to your phrasing I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing, this was never a backdoor. I have been verified and granted 1250 seats or somesuch with a serial, that could easily be verified with online activation, there's no actual reason for it to require a sign in as well.

It does sound like you are definitively saying that as part of the activation process every user, or at least every device will have to do a sign in though, even in a classroom setting.

I'm the IT manager for PC software, but I won't be doing that, and I don't decide what we use for software, so good luck to the teacher and autodesk more like.

Thanks

Hi @thielen.adam,

Multi-seat stand-alone licenses should activate without the need for signing in with an Autodesk Account, so I've forwarded this to our Education Team, to see if they have any ideas why this may be happening.

I'll let you know when I have an update,

All the best,

Thank you, I hope they aren't like the email support who keep telling me to do a screen recording of what I'm doing. But again thanks.

Let me know if they notify you of a change, because I tried again just this morning and it did not ask for a sign in afterward, and want to verify before notifying the teacher.

Thanks

Hi @thielen.adam,

The Education team followed up with me and took up a case as they noticed that the contract associated with the Multi-User Stand-alone license was assigned to a student, so they are looking to make sure the contract is assigned properly as it makes deploying installations easier.

Raises more questions than answers for me, since I just used my admin account to get the serial in the first place, so if there's another step needed after doing this that I missed, it wasn't clear.

I will get with the teacher to test on their machines.

Thanks

Hi @thielen.adam,

I wanted to follow up as I haven't heard from you in a few days. Did Mahitha from our Education support team help get you up and running? If everything is working well, I'd be happy to hear from you; otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know of any issues or questions.
