Win10 screen resolution problem

Anonymous

I have seen other posts describing similar problems but I'm just not finding the actual solution.

Windows 10 running Eagle 9.3.1.

My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080  and the scaling is set to the Windows recommended 125%.

The setting "Let Windows try to fix apps so they're not blurry" is turned on.

My problem is simply this, the menu text is so small I can barely read it.

If I change the scaling to 150% so I can actually read the menu text, then the dialog boxes and click buttons are off the screen. The print dialog is a good example.

I can't resize the print dialog box to show the buttons at the bottom.

I've tried changing screen resolutions but this messes with all my other applications.

Surely I'm missing something here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. For that type of monitor resolution, you don't need any scaling so I would start by removing those scale factors. Within EAGLE you may want to go to Options > User Interface and mess with the HDPI settings on the middle left.

Let me know how that goes. If the icons end up being small that is OK, in the same dialog you can change the icon size on the bottom right.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thanks for getting back to me Jorge.

I set my Windows 10 screen scaling to 100%.

I tried all combinations of Enable HDPI Scaling and Enable Auto Screen Scale Factor.

These have no noticeable affect on anything.

At 100% screen scaling, I can barely read the text in my other Windows apps.

Finally, I changed my screen resolution to 1366 x 768. This at least lets Eagle operate better. The text in the control panel is still small but usable. Unfortunately this resolution change messes with all my other applications so I don't see this as a good solution.

Let me know if you have any other thoughts.

Mitch

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. This is something that we continue to work on and we have a few upcoming fixes that we hope will resolve some of these issues. For now I don't have anything else to offer.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hello,

Any update since 2 years?

I have the same problem on all my computers using modern screen (2k, 4k) and > 100% ratio in win 10.

There is also a very, very serious problem in the lib/symbol editor, I have it since years, on all computers, all screen including the industry-standard HD resolution at 100% ratio. The windows is randomly changed to a very big size (so big that grid on all parts become invisible including 484 pins devices). Then, sometime an error screen appears: coordinates (x y) are out of range.

This bug is very repeatable (more than once a minute, sometime 2s within the symbol has been opened or the windows resized) and I have it on 4 different computers since at least 2 years. Really, does nobody at Autodesk has never see this bug?

Hi @nicolas.bouquet ,

I hope you're doing well. Thanks for the bump, I haven't heard of it randomly changing size before. Any chance you could record a screencast of the issue.

We have had 4k issues for years but they have always been static.

Wish I had better news.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi

Not sure if this is particularly related but I thought I'd post my experience for anyone else that finds themselves here...

I'm using Windows 11 and had similar scaling issues. The fix for me was to right click on the Eagle exe and go into properties > compatibility > change high DPI settings. From here, check "override high DPI scaling behavior and select "scaling performed by system"

It's a bit blurry but at least it's the right size. Not sure if you can do similar on Windows 10 or not
