Updating net classes.

I am using the free version of Eagle 9.6.2 for hobbyist projects only.  Initially declared 3 net classes with appropriate parameters, and these were reflected correctly in autorouted board layout.  Subsequently I found a further class was needed, so added this and set parameters accordingly, however further efforts at autorouting, even after a complete rip up, do not reflect the new (4th) net class even though changes to the parameters of the initial 3 classes are acted upon.

Is this a fault or have I missed something fundamental here??

As a separate issue, will the free (limited) version of 9.6.2 still be accessible after the drop dead date for the full version next year.   As hobbyist I have no interest in the free fusion version, as subtle changes mean that these files cannot be processed automatically to generate GCODE  for CNC milling of circuit boards.

Hello @petergharrison ,

I hope you're doing well. So there are a few things to check

1) Make sure that you assigned nets to the netclass

2) Netclasses define minimum values and they always compete with the DRC. So if you set really small values (smaller than DRC) the 4th netclass will do nothing.

As far as the end of 9.6.2 official Autodesk announcements indicate that at that point EAGLE would cease to function. If what's holding you back is the GCODE creation, I recommend you check out this thread. Fusions GCODE capabilities surpass those in EAGLE, but they work differently than what you are used to so I get it.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thanks for you advice regarding the net classes difficulties I was experiencing - those are now resolved such that any changes are now reflected immediately by warnings in the board layout.

With regard to Eagle 9.6.2 limited edition) beyond next June, the workflow I and many other hobbyists have set up involves an excellent ULP -  this generates GCODE that runs directly on my CNC machine. No editing required as all machine parameters can be set in the ULP.   Perhaps the "powers that be" at AUTODESK could be persuaded to allow 9.6.2 (limited version) to operate in the same way that 7.7.0 (limited version) does, with no support from, or interaction with, AUTODESK?
