Unable to run EAGLE on Debian GNU/Linux x64

Hi all !

We buy a licence for new version (8.1.0) but i can't start Eagle under Linux : I have this error message on eagle frame:

Please connect to the Internet to
re-authenticate your EAGLE license.

I'm connected to internet, and I don't use any proxy service.

When I refresh window, Eagle write on console the following messages :

qt.network.ssl: QSslSocket: cannot call unresolved function SSLv23_client_method
qt.network.ssl: QSslSocket: cannot call unresolved function SSL_library_init

My linux configuration is :

Debian GNU/Linux 9
Linux 4.9.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.13-1 (2017-02-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux

My network connection work finely.

What do i do to validate my eagle authentication ?

Thanks !

Eagle-8.1.1 - that software is not works on linux. Disgusting testing and approach to development. I think that this software will never work properly.

Hi reagentoo,

I humbly disagree, it will work properly there is a lot of effort going into testing all of the new infrastructure in EAGLE. Now you could ask why don't we just wait until everything is perfect before making a release? The problem with this approach is that you might never release, Linux is a vibrant and diverse ecosystem with 400+ distros last count.

With every release we are seeing fewer of these Linux issues pop up and we actively work to fix the issues you and others are reporting. Right now we are releasing often so that each fix and improvement can get to our users as fast as possible. Hang on a little bit longer and you'll see that soon EAGLE will be rock solid on all of it's platforms.

It works on my Debian, but the heartbeat is totally DEAD.
Eagle has never worked properly ever since I was using the DOS version, so situation there is nominal.
And apart of Debian which uses weird system or stable releases and backports, your English is also hard to understand, but I'm not blaming your English language deficiencies either.

Working fine on debian squezee with

ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.2 /<directory of install eagle-8.2.0>/lib/libssl.so

ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.2 /<directory of install eagle-8.2.0>/lib

I prefer to duplicate the library as it sometimes hangs, but from what I've seen it's a QT5 problem

Which means: the trouble we've been complaining about for the past 15 years may have been just the QT or any other system, right?

SORRY ????

So I see it is a defect in the programming, it is not to look for guilty, on the one hand the system of authentication of licenses used by you leaves much to be desired, but also there are some bug in the graphical library, QT that already have been remedied ( Check the night builds) at the end of the post there is a temporary solution until you recompile with the new lib

Ah if you need support in linux (debian and ...) please write me

Read my next post ...

Every distribution has its configuration, but in general all "are the same" (god I hope no one will beat me !!! :), in the process of compilation assign the main libraries and others to specific directories, with regard to stability, knowing 4 Tricks or four lines of configuration, is very stable ... nothing to do with windows systems ...

PD. Note that linux development eh 🙂

Maybe I can give you a solution but I need to know;

Kernel version (On the console type)

uname -a

To have more information (in console)

cat /etc/*-release

Memory  (in console )

free -m

And more info (in console)

cat /proc/meminfo

And the information of the cpu in console

cat /proc/cpuinfo

Pass me the results for a paste

😛

Are you firewalled? Because ET is calling home, where you will be asked to log in into your autodesk account.
That screen happens when it is unable to proceed with even the most basic task.

Is that a Gentoo penguin in an REA armor? As gentoos are usually a special compile variant, it is possible that the libssl.so people keep mentioning isn't working properly

Most people got it to work once they either moved files or deleted some. Let's see is someone has the link...

A silly question, are you running it from an usb drive ??? , You have memory, the kernel there are two revisions, you did not activate swap (although you do not need 16 ... I have 32 and swap .. sometimes we reuse libraries, without updating them at all ...) (If you put the iso or better the url), I would move the eagle folder from / mnt to / home / .. ./eagle, would activate swap ....

Verify that the libssl and libcrypto libraries are in the eagle / lib folder (the original gentoo / usr / lib64 / folder)

If it works well if I do not try on a machine I'm going to mount now ...

Hi ADresden,

This is I think related to the heartbeat issue. If you are on WIFI try plugging in directly to an Ethernet port. What happens?

I think you'll be able to get past this screen and login.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
