Hi all !
We buy a licence for new version (8.1.0) but i can't start Eagle under Linux : I have this error message on eagle frame:
Please connect to the Internet to re-authenticate your EAGLE license.
I'm connected to internet, and I don't use any proxy service.
When I refresh window, Eagle write on console the following messages :
qt.network.ssl: QSslSocket: cannot call unresolved function SSLv23_client_method qt.network.ssl: QSslSocket: cannot call unresolved function SSL_library_init
My linux configuration is :
Debian GNU/Linux 9 Linux 4.9.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.13-1 (2017-02-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux
My network connection work finely.
What do i do to validate my eagle authentication ?
Thanks !
Hi s.schneider.fr54,
Sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing using EAGLE 8.1.0, I was trying to do some research on Debian v9, but I couldn't locate information on it. On the Debian page we found reference to v8.0 and 8.7, but not Debian/Linux 9. Consider trying an earlier version of Autodesk EAGLE v8.0.2 for now. We need to take a closer look at this, I have informed the developing team about this thread.
Best Regards,
Ed
I hope you're doing well. Try this, in the EAGLE installation folder you'll find a lib folder from that lib folder try removing the libssl library. This will force EAGLE to use your system libssl library. Does that make a difference?
Often when we run into issues with linux it's a matter of removing a few libraries from the lib folder and then EAGLE uses the ones that are on your system.
Please accept as solution if my post fully resolves or you issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
Best Regards,
I have the same issue on Debian. Already tried to delete libssl in the lib directory. I also tried version 8.0.2 but this was not working either.
I hope you're doing well. Try removing the following libraries, before you do make sure that your debian install has a version of these libraries already installed.

Best Regards,
Hi all,
I tried this 2 solutions and now, i don't have any window. In place, I have a new message :
./eagle: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.10: version `libcrypto.so.10' not found (required by ./eagle)
I installed all libraries on my system, but nothing works... I would not compromise the integrity of my PC with hazardous installation...
Thanks for your participation. Now we are getting somewhere. The easiest solution would be to reinstall EAGLE remove all the libraries I wrote previous post with the exception of libcrypto and see if EAGLE starts. It seems like that is the only library it couldn't find locally.
The other option is to install libcrypto through apt-get.
Please accept as solution if my post fully resolves or you issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
Best Regards,
Hi
So, I tested this solution, but we have new problems now, like :
./eagle: relocation error: ./eagle: symbol _ZNSt17bad_function_callD1Ev, version Qt_5 not defined in file libQt5Qml.so.5 with link time reference
Mylibrary installation is as follows:
# aptitude show libqt5qml5 Paquet : libqt5qml5 Version : 5.7.1-2+b2 Nouveau: oui État: installé [...]
It's too complicated to run it. I think that we will use eagle on windows system until the linux version was finalized, otherwise we can not make our electronic cards.
Thanks for your support
I tested all solutions. It seems Eagle 8.1.0 is broken for most Linux distributions.
My platform:
– Intel Core i5-4690 CPU with Intel HD Graphics,
– Gentoo Linux ~amd64
– Linux Kernel 4.9.20
– Qt 5.7.1
– xorg-server-1.19.3
– glibc-2.23
– openssl-1.0.2k
I get just an empty screen.
I am running Fedora 24 here and I have the problem that I get a screen with: Please connect to the Internet to
re-authenticate your EAGLE license.
Nothing wrong with my internet and no proxy in place.
Running a strace on the eagle startup I can see that it tries to connect to two addresses:
52.206.53.125
and
34.196.34.4
These are both not responding to ping and I presume that eagle then thinks the whole internet is down.
I do so much hate software that needs a connection to the internet to even start %&/¤%"¤&%
New Eagle-8.1.1 is not works.
./eagle
Segmentation fault
Please see strace output. https://dpaste.de/ygAD
I did try all those. They created more/other problems with missing symbols. Couldn't really find a working combination.
Now downloaded the new 8.1.1 version and tried again on my FC24. Still the same "Please connect to the Internet to
re-authenticate your EAGLE license."
The terminal contains:
% LANG=C ./eagle
./eagle: /usr/opt/eagle-8.1.1/lib/libdbus-1.so.3: no version information available (required by /lib64/libavahi-client.so.3)

My primary ethernet adapter has two IP-addresses. Cuold that be a problem?
Not possible. It really needs two IP:s as it belongs to one network with access to the outside world and also to an internal network. And being Linux it also serves both networks in different ways.
But no worries. I found version 7.7 of Eagle your old ftp site and this works perfectly fine. I can live with that as it gives me the possibility to convert the designs to kicad with the utilities available.
Seems like version 8 is not for us....
