The voltage regulator in a T092 package has this appearance on the board layout

T092-2.PNG

Yet when I look at the same device in the Eagle manufacture view is looks like this, with a gap in the device outline.

I'm also seeing this gap in an earlier board I had manufactured using this same footprint.

What is the cause of this and can it be prevented?

You see in the picture the layers Place and Docu (and they are the same color) - the line is solid.

Only the Place layer is used for production - where Docu is drawn - the break is obtained.

You can change layer colors to see differences.

You can edit the TO92.PAC to eliminate the break.

That's all very well, @Yura.Ivanov.VLuki , but the gap that @infinite.machinery is referring to is not one of the places where the footprint (correctly) uses tDoc to avoid a pad. It's off on the side, where a pad would be on the other TO92 variant footprints but isn't on the straight line version in question. Neither the library I just checked here nor the one you used in your example have that gap.

Scratch that - I've just re-read and noticed that he's referring to a voltage regulator. It turns out the V-reg library has a bug here in that it uses the same silk screen for TO92L as for TO92A, when it should have a small difference, just as the transistor libraries do.

Автор не указывает какое устройство из какой библиотеки использует, поэтому так я предположил, что использовано своё устройство (смотрите обозначения площадок), например (ref-packages.lbr / TO92)

The author does not specify which device from which library is used, so I assumed that my device was used (see site designations), for example (ref-packages.lbr/TO92).

Sorry for my bad English

The device is one that I created myself for the 78L05 (and 79L05). I used a T092 footprint from another library. From the replies to this thread I suspected that there was a problem with the how the lines in the footprint were assigned to layers, in particular the arc at the top of the device.

I opened the footprint and sure enough the arc at the top was on tDocu. I changed it to tPlace and now the outline in the manufacture view looks correct.

Thanks everyone for all your help!
