Suggestion: make left arrow (in Add) collapse dropdown even if not at top level

Suggestion: allow me to collapse a menu by hitting the left arrow key even if I'm not on the row with the expansion arrow. If I'm adding a component to a schematic, I use the arrow keys to go up/down in the component list. I can use right arrow to expand a menu, then I'll scroll down a bit to find a component. If I don't find my component, I either have to keep scrolling down until I can move onto the next list, or I have to scroll all the way back up to the expansion arrow, only then can I hit the left arrow key to collapse the menu.

If I could use the left arrow key no matter what row I was in, I expect it to collapse the deepest menu that I'm inside of. This will save a bunch of time for keyboard users that scroll through a ton of items. I see no immediate drawbacks to this. If you're in multiple submenus, then each left arrow key simply collapses the deepest one one at a time. Happy to explain further or take screenshots if it will help.

Thanks!

Hi Samy,

I hope you're doing well today. Could you provide some screenshots? That will make sure that I report your suggestion properly.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I've included two images, the first one shows where the left arrow key will NOT do anything, and the 2nd shows where you have to be scrolled to for the left arrow to actually collapse the expanded area.

I'm suggesting that left arrow ALWAYS collapse the expanded area you're in.

Hi,

 I'll second this motion.

This has been a feature in past versions of Eagle, last working in ver7.6

many of us would depend on this simple action for navigation of

the various tree drop-downs.  Without it much additional time is spent

scrolling through components.

thanks

Andrew.

Thanks for the pictures and comments.

Totally agree on this one guys...I'll upvote this one internally 🙂  It wont make it for 8.1 (obstacle avoidance & walkaround release) but it'll be something we prioritize (should be an easy fix).
