Suggestion: Allow scrolling to any parts in board area

Suggestion for the board layout: allow scrolling to any area in the board layout where a part exists.

Often I'll add a new component in schematic view and Eagle will auto-add it to the board layout, however I can't actually see/access the component in the board layout unless I zoom out. I should be able to scroll down to the component but I can't. Eagle seems to restrict where I can scroll to the board dimension area even though there's a new part ready to be placed outside the board dimension area. Currently, once I zoom out and see it, then I can grab it.

Thanks!

Hello Samy,

I hope you're doing well. I've made the developers aware of your suggestion and was able to reproduce it.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hello Jorge!

I see this is a quite old thread and also a really old issue. I'm personally annoyed by this bug since long before Autodesk bought Eagle 🙂 And unfortunately it's still not fixed.

I think this might not be a high priority task, thus I'm finally writing here, to support the original request.

IMHO the whole scrolling and zooming experience needs a lot of rework.

I'd also love if one could zoom using the mouse wheel using shift for example.

Many thanks for your effort and I hope the dev team hears us soon 🙂

Ju

Hi @julianJTABZ,

I hope you're doing well. Could you provide some information about your setup? This should have been resolved a while ago. Any additional info would be super helpful.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hey Jorge!

Thanks, I'm doing fine, I hope you too 🙂

I still had the issue that when zooming in, often parts of the PCB were not reachable. Outside the scroll area.

But actually I just noticed the 9.1.3 update. And since I updated, I couldn't reproduce the issue anymore!

If it occurs again, I'll notify you and include more details.

Thanks for your great support, throughout the forum 🙂

Cheers

Ju

Hey Jorge!

I discovered after some time, that it still happens from time to time.

Sometimes I cannot scroll everything into view. That applies to the board and schematic as well.

Especially when zooming out, the content on any side gets cut off.

Should we continue discussing here, or should I create a new thread for that?

ALl the best
