Spurious requests to sign in

I am occasionally asked to sign in, when I'm already signed in. Today that happened, I signed in as asked and I was immediately asked to sign in again. I started signing in and the dialog disappeared. Last week, I saw the message asking me to sign in and I didn't even get a chance to respond before it decided I was already logged in. It almost seems like two competing processes... one that is checking to see if I'm logged in, and another trigger-happy process that doesn't like waiting for the other process to decide whether a signin prompt is needed.

Hello Rob,

I hope you're doing well. What version of EAGLE are you working with? 8.2.2 resolved a lot of the login issues, is that the version you are using?

Please let me know.

Yes, 8.2.2. I'm not sure if it's happening on my windows computer but definitely on MacOS

Hi Rob,

That's weird, I haven't gotten any other reports of that. If you have some time, could you make a screencast of when you start EAGLE. Maybe I can glean something from that.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi, I'm still having similar issues on the most recent Eagle 8.3.2 premium.

It is a bit of annoying to be asked to sign in always, especially because I also have second step verification and need to insert codes and always check to not ask for this device again and still getting some sign in screens.

Any idea of why this is happening?

Thanks

Hello @rada.mar,

This is unusual, I know Autodesk supports two factor authentication but I'm not 100% sure if EAGLE is setup to handle that. I'll ask the appropriate developer and get back to you on that.

A few points to keep in mind, every time you install EAGLE you will have to login again. If you are in offline mode and 14 days have elapsed then you will have to login again as well.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

hi @jorge_garcia

thanks for the response,

I've been working on Eagle on the past days, so the 14 days rule doesn't apply and I'm using the newest version for a couple of days.

the authentication including the second factor works fine, the only issues as I mention it often request to sign in again after a couple of hours eagle was closed and then reopen again.

It's not a big issue, but it might be a useful feedback for the developers.

There is a bug that pop-ups message dialog "Do you want to Sign in? Click 'No' to stay offline." just after you signed in.

It should be fixed in next release.

This is very strange. Do you have two Eagle instances running simultaneously? This is the only scenario I could imagine explaining what you have seen.

Hi @rada.mar

Thank you for the feedback.

We'll check two-factor authentication.

Could you provide few more details about your environment?

1) What OS do you run Eagle on?

2) Do you run multiple instances of Eagle? For example, open other schematics or board files in new Eagle process while working on the main project?

Regards

Hi, @andrii.anpilogov

thanks for your response,

Responding to your questions

1) What OS do you run Eagle on?

Eagle 8.3.2 on OSX 10.12.6

2) Do you run multiple instances of Eagle? For example, open other schematics or board files in new Eagle process while working on the main project?

And indeed I've forgot that I've run another instance of Eagle very recently, because I wanted to have different schematics open at the same time.

I see, there is a feature suggestion for it

Suggestion: allow multiple schematics/boards to be opened simultaneously

Thanks for the feedback!

It's really important to know that MacOS users do run second Eagle process and have inconvenience with even do it (tricks in the command line).

Regarding second Eagle instance.

Are you still asked for "Sign in" when you run a single Eagle app?

It's important because:

- There is a slight chance of having some issue with subscription cache synchronization between two Eagle apps.

- We need to find out is the problem on your machine or on the server

Hi @rada.mar

I just want to let you know.

Our QAs tested two-steps authentication and it works as expected so your issue most likely isn't caused by it.

Yeah. This is annoying.

There are"Do not ask on this device" and "Stay signed in" checkboxes that are on SSO page but doesn't really work from the applications. They are designed for web apps only.

Hope we could remove them so they would not confuse users.

Hi @andrii.anpilogov,

thanks for the feedback,

in the seconds Eagle instance it didn't ask for a "Sign In", but also I wasn't concerned to be online in the instance so I didn't try to get online.

Thanks
