Smart paste not working, clipboard buffer empty

Hi, I watched the smart paste video today. It said I can select text from a data sheet and paste it into the schematic as pins. Today is my first day evaluating Eagle. But, it is not working for me. I select the text I want from the PIC data sheet & try to paste it into the schematic but I receive the clipboard buffer empty message.

What step am I missing? Video attached showing my work flow.

Hello,

The problem you have is you are trying to use the smart paste in the schematic editor. This is for use in the symbol editor for the library parts. The use case is for creating pin names for the schematic symbols when you are creating new parts.

Best Regards,
