Simple copper pour gerber size is huge

Why is what seems like a very simple copper pour (see attachement) on the bottom layer turn out to be nearly 24Mb in gerber output.  Needless to say when I panelize 6 of these the file is huge and prototype pcb houses only want to accept 10Mb files or less.

Is it something I've done wrong in creating them?  They are simple polygons.

What size line width have you set for the polygons? EAGLE fills polygons by using lines set to the line width of the polygon. If you have it set to 0 then polygon fills will be huge.
