SHOW function/command

Do you have any plans to make the "show" command to show colours in more obvious/clear ways, as an example as Mentor Graphics PADS which lights up nets in WHITE (picture example) instead of as in Eagle (att least earlier versions) which highlights the nets very dull, almost not at all both in the schematics (which is almost impossible to even notice!) but also in the PCB, which though is a little bit better but far from optimized. I contacted Cadsoft a few times about this a few years ago but they preferred to never even reply. Or have I missed something in the Eagle setup?

Hm, when I try to save scr/ulp's etc from you (i'm on a mac) it saves the files as "html". Then I try to rename them to .ulp or .scr but it seems the text is like made in html. I have no idea why but want to ask if you could make a zip of all your files you share there, if it's not too much work for you. I'm not used of github, maybe I'm missing the correct way how to download...

You can select 'Download ZIP' from the main page of the repository. Or right-click the file from the list and select 'Save Link As'.

That will save the link with the original extension.

Note: All ulp and scr files are just text files with different extensions. If you ever have just the text of a ULP or script. Copy it to a txt file, using notepad or similar, then rename the txt extension to ulp or scr.

HIGHLIGHTER modifier:

Exactly, I'm having this idea and a very urgent need: When I pick something up (resistor, transistor, capacitor), I want the individual nets and connected pads to be highlighted in slightly different shades, hues, palette, or such. That way I can see which pin will connect to which. Basically, turning it ON while trying to move things, you wouldn't need the SHOW as much, if at all.

Point2: I also need the ability to switch off the display or highlighting, or just greatly attenuate the highlighting of some nets like GND. Because in SMT, you have usually special GND layer and you can connect ends of resistors, capacitors, etc. to a via, and you do that long after all components and most traces have been placed, so you don't want those pads to disturb you from properly orienting the ones which will pose problems.

point2: the current alpha-blending is weak and weird. When I turn it off, the blasting colors are too much, when I turn it on, I don't even know where L16 and L1 overlap... if there was a channel mixing slider for each channel, with (relative) mix (alpha) and amp (pre-amplifier before mixing).

Oh, hello. Typically, last time it was a 50-pin FPC connector of unknown brand or origin (China, duuuh!), pitch 0.5mm. So I had to browse the whole of the library and was able to find one or two that had the same pads, or a very good fit. In the v3 I was doing that on the board, so I could see what it looks like (no placing!), then return back to schematics, find the same lbr, and part and place that one and repeat process. This time (8.1.1) I had placed 20 connectors in the schematics and went out sorting, then printing and physically comparing, cut with scissors and measure, etc.

"tricks"... I'm too old for wasting my life on fun tricks and needless hacks. Mouse and left button should be able to do 99.6% of the job. All the existing manual can be pasted into tooltip text helps. That way I can get manual anytime in the proper context.

What do you mean "which page schematics"? The largest one I worked with was 7 or 8 metres long. Common ones were B1 to A0 format. And some of those (swiss and czech) could on one A0 do what many common CAD engineers need 200 schematics pages for. Or even 500. Next. what was it... Solna, the electrical documentation was a useless bunch of 500 A4 pages that told you exactly nothing about how anything works and what is connected where. Just to get where is a sensor connected to, you needed 4-5 A4 pages one connecting to the other, at various places of the 500-page volume. It was useless on paper, where you could not do net highlights and other info tools on cursor. In the future, I plan to design according to some very strict demands of railway industry and the norm says that the documentation must be clear and self-evident, which many A4 formats are not.

I'm preparing a post on the libraries, packages and such.

I support the idea of adding more highlight controls. These kind of features to me are in the "nice to have" category, but wouldn't really speed me up. There are lots of features that can actually increase productivity I would want first.

Remember: The airwires show what pins are connected. You can use INFO on any net to hide or show them.

I would suggest that an Alpha/Hue adjustment, or at least a color setting, be added to the net classes menu. That way you could control the colors by class.
See my photoshop mockup below.

As it stands now I don't know of a way to run a command to show the nets while moving a part. While moving you are in an active command and there is no way to run multiple active commands at the same time.

I have a simple wish. The "show" function works only at one sheet of project. Sometimes it is necessary to find identical lines or buses on different sheets. Showing on all sheets will be very useful.
