Hello
In previous version of Eagle when routing the you always automatically connected to the nearest airwire. This was in my opinion very handy to quickly route the connections that were still open. In Eagle 8 the router just snaps to the closest net. Is there some setting to get back the old behaviour of previous versions of Eagle?
Best regards,
Hello j.vdvelden,
I hope you're doing well. If I'm understanding you correctly, the issue here is that the route command no longer snaps to airwires only but can also start on a route. So in a dense area you are clicking on routed traces instead of the airwires.
The routing engine in EAGLE has been completely overhauled and there is no way to switch back.
With that said, by lowering your catch factor you can make it easier on yourself. Click Options > Set > Misc tab in any of the editors. Set the catch factor to a low value (3-5%). You should find it easier to pickup the airwires now because in order for an object to be selectable it has to be closer to the pointer so there is less chance of having multiple objects in the selection radius of your mouse pointer at one time.
Please accept as solution if my post fully resolves or you issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Perhaps a control key extension can be added (say, for example, ctrl-A) so doing this while clicking to start a route finds & starts with the nearest airwire point.
"and there is no way to switch back-"-except by adding a switch
Hi @nnovotney and @j.vdvelden,
I hope you're both doing well. The developers have asked to see a sample of the file. Just PM with the board and a description of the probematic area.
Before explaining the current solution, please open page 21 of the EAGLE user manual and have it open as I explain this. Because the ROUTE command can now select more than just the air wires there is a hierarchy of which objects are selected. So for example, let's say that in this area you have objects on the top copper layer and the airwires are running over them. What you could do is select the bottom layer and then click on the airwires.
What will happen is that because the offending objects are not on the currently selected layer the airwires will now be the highest object in the hierarchy and they will be selected instead of the other nearby objects. This is the solution that I can offer at this moment.
The developers have been made aware of the suggestion.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
Best Regards,
Hi jorge.garcia!
At the moment I don't really have a file to show you the problem. But for me an old Eagle user It's just really hard to get used to the this new way. In older version the CTRL button was used to switch between these ways. Clicking with mouse in routing mode while holding CTRL would route everything you wanted. But without the CTRL it only connected to airwires.
Last week I finished a design but was busy for maybe 2 hours to find all the wires that are not connected. So what are my options for that?
Best regards,
