Just installed Eagle 9.2.2 free download on Windows X, I have three displays on an ALienware 17 r5.  Going through the YouTube video "Getting Started in Autodesk EAGLE - Dec 2018.  When I get to the schematic part, the video shows the ability to select a group.  The cursor is a crosshair along the whole window.  Selected objects go from red to blue.

I attempt to do the same.  I'm using the same layer, 91, same tool Group, but my cursor is a cross and when I select a group, nothing shows as selected.  I have no idea why this is happening.  Tried re-installing to no effect.

OK, I made progress.  Turns out I couldn't see the color change.  Is there an in app setting to see more contract when selecting the objects?

All of the colours transparency (alpha) settings and highlight level are adjustable from the Options->Set->Colours menu. There are also some script (.scr) files in the standard install that configure a few "standard" colour sets (current default, legacy, etc.) so you could run them and see whether what you're after is one of them.
