I have a schematic and board layout where I have deleted many sections of the original schematic. The original schematic was from a more complex design, and the current project was to simplify it. What is left is a technically functional schematic but it is spread over numerous sheets now.
If I copy/paste a section - that messes up the layout that is already done. I am hoping to select a section on one sheet and MOVE it, with nets and names intact, to another sheet to make a consolidated schematic.
Is this possible? At least, is it possible in a practical way?

You sure can. Use a group command to select all the nets and components that you want to move, then select move command, apply the command to the group (CTRL-right-click by default in EAGLE, can also do it from the right-click menu), then click on the thumbnail of the sheet you want to move it to, when you switch to that sheet the circuitry will be on the cursor to drop down with a left-click.
See "help move" for a slightly different description of how to do it, but it's the same procedure.

Aaaaaand solved. Here is a video for anyone wondering about the same thing.
Thanks James - you were replying while I was making a quick video.
So glad this was easy. I recall trying this at some point and it did not work. No idea when this became possible, or maybe I was doing it wrong initially. Either way - all good.....schematic clean-up shall continue.
Or simply fix the annoying tool reset as soon we change sheet. Then ALL tools would work across sheet selections.
Just a though...
Anyone here seen the issue where the schematic still ghosts on the original page it was moved from? Ungrouping after moving to the new page eliminates the ghosted image, but is an nuisance step. Once on the new page, and ungrouped, I am able to regroup without the ghosting issue.
Also crashing here (MacOS).
I was able to use "Copy" instead (copy group, click to new sheet, place) and then delete the old one.
It crashes for me. Copy and paste does not work for me either. Copy and paste just copies the schematic. It does not copy the routing for the selected parts.
was there any solution found for this crashing when moving a block in 9.6.2 ? This bug means that you can never re-arrange blocks of schematic without losing the routing (which happens if you do copy, paste in other sheet and delete in original sheet
Hello @micheline.verhaegen,
I hope you're doing well. Are you running into this issue right now? I just tried it on Windows 10 EAGLE 9.6.2 and I didn't get a crash.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
Best Regards,
I am not having the system crash however the move item is located kind of lost in space. I get messages that it out of range and in the preview it is really small.
Just wanted to add I had the same crash issue in 9.6.2 Standard, but I found a solution.
I selected a group in the schematic, and started moving it.
Then I switch the sheet from the sheet list in the "Design Manager" tab. The selected group was not visible in the sheet, and as soon as I clicked in the sheet, the software crashed.
However, if I switch the sheet from the "Sheets" tab open (as was shown in the video posted earlier) the selected group was visible, and I could place it, and everything worked.
So there still seems to be an issue when switching sheets from the "Design Manager" tab.
WORKAROUND: When moving a group between sheets, use the "Sheets" tab to switch sheets, not the "Design Manager" tab.
I confirm the same issue with 9.6.2, but @stabiJC3B9's solution worked for me (thanks!). Using the "Sheets" tab works, but doing basically the same steps using the sheet list in the "Design Manager" tab reliably crashes the program.
