Managed Library - Create New Version

Hi,

My colleagues and I have been using managed libraries for a while now. This functionality was very easy to use and we were easily able to update libraries and add 3D models, etc... I've not had to do any ECAD for a month or two and have recently updated to Eagle 9.5.2. This brings me to my issue.

It appears that you've slightly changed the way that managed libraries work. My previous workflow was to open a managed library in the library editor (within EAGLE), make whatever change I needed to and then press 'Create New Version'. This would push the change to the remote version of the library and then I'd be able to add a 3D model to a newly created footprint, for example.

How do I do this now? There doesn't appear to be any mechanism to push my local edits to the remote version of the library anymore?

Thanks,

Adam

Okay, I think I've figured this out.

So the new workflow is, say to create a new part with a 3D model:

  1. Pull latest version of managed library from within the library manager
  2. Save-as to exit read-only mode and be able to make edits to the library locally
  3. Create the footprint, symbol and device
  4. Save the changes
  5. Manually upload library within library.io
  6. Pull the latest version that now contains a 3D model
  7. Save-as to exit read-only mode and be able to make edits the library locally
  8. Add 3D model to part
  9. Save the changes
  10. Manually upload library within library.io
  11. Pull the latest version

Which replaces:

  1. Pull latest version of the library from within the library manager
  2. Create footprint, symbol and device
  3. Save / Create New Version
  4. Add 3D model
  5. Save / Create New Version

🙂

Should not be like this. Sometime old style workflow is OK sometimes not. I think it is a bug rather than a feature.

🙂

Hi @HarrySatt and @Anonymous,

Please confirm if you have ownership of those libraries. That might explain what's going on.

EAGLE's default libraries are meant to be a source of reference components and things like that, however they are not meant to be edited as is. Anything you want to modify you have to bring into a personal library.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

There is another very similar thread to this. I was seeing this issue just now in 9.5.2 but not in 9.5.1. Looking in Control Panel in 9.5.2 in the top right it was showing me as signed in but without actually showing my name and my license entitlement had dropped to free. Signing out and back in to refresh the license restored normal library access in 9.5.2.

Best Regards,

Rachael

I can confirm that the Fix Jorge references here works for me. Came into work this morning, hit F5 on my control panel and things are back to normal. Thanks.
