Importing PADS schematic

Hello everyone,

I'm facing an issue with importing Mentor's PADS schematic file and i want to ask is it possible to overcome this. After i select File->Import->P-CAD/Altium/Protel i get this type of error:

Screenshot from 2018-08-04 20-19-34.png

I suspect that my type of PADS file should be converted to Ascii format am i right ?Unfortunatelly if yes, how to do this without acces to PADS software(i've got only viewer which is free) .

I'm attaching this .sch file if someone want to look at it

Greetings!

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. Unfortunately, we can't do anything with PADS schematic files at this point in time. We don't have any mechanism to import PADS files. We are working on improving our importing functionality but this is where we are right now.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hello @jorge_garcia, thanks for Your answer

Sad to hear that Eagle can't handle that conversion, but i was thinking maybe i can open this schematic with Altium and save this as Altium schematic and then import it with Eagle, do You think this can work out ?

Greetings!

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. That depends on how well Altium can open a PADS schematic. If there is a board involved then definitely don't expect to have consistency between schematic and board.

Conversion between tools is hard because everyone keeps the secret sauce to themselves. There is a chance that you could get a useable file from it but no guarantees.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi,

I am facing a similar issue in one of my design. Did your thing of importing the PADS file in Altium and then going ahead with opening it in Eagle work??
