How to import Schematics that are pdf or bmp's

Hi I am Larry, I am totally new to Eagle so I have a question. Is the a way to import a pdf or bmp of a schematic or PCB into Eagle. I have searched and haven't much to help me this. I just don't want to recreate the pdf schematics I already have.

Thanks,

Larry

Hi Larry,

Unfortunately what you're asking for is magic.

A PDF or a BMP contains no useful information, from a software tool perspective. It's merely a collection of lines or, even worse, dots. There is nothing in it to indicate that said lines or dots represent a schematic and not, say, a cartoon of your pet cat. Only the astonishing computing power of the super-processor that is your brain can do that conversion.

For the board, once you've got the schematic sorted, you can import the BMP as a background "layer" and place the real components and traces by following that template. That might also work for the schematic but it tends to need a very high resolution BMP and the import doesn't always like that..

Thanks, That is what I was guessing by some of the converstations I have seen. I just hate to re-invent the wheel when I has been done already but understand why that can't be done. I will play around with the layer idea for that is what I really need the most is the layout to CNC the board itself. Again thanks for your responce.
