Hello @Anonymous,

I hope you're have an excellent day. Welcome to our forums. The recommended approach is to copy the component of interest to your personal library and make changes there, leaving the original unaltered. This is easy to do.

1. In the EAGLE control panel > File > New > Library
2. In the table of contents view at the bottom of each of the 4 columns you can add a new device/footprint/3Dpackage/Symbol.
3. Click the add button for the type of item you want to create.
4. In the dialog that pops up click import... This will allow you to bring in assets from other libraries.
5. Find the component you want and click OK.

The component has now been copied to your library and you can modify it as you wish.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Sorry for reactivating this post but have you seen the message after your response? I am in the same situation: after following your procedure it is still impossible to modify anything.

Hello @doreen_holley,

I hope this message finds you well. If you are still using EAGLE then the best tutorial for part creation I can recommend is chp 8 of the EAGLE manual. You can also check out the EAGLE youtube channel.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
